Scholarship System

I. 3 original scholarships of Fukuoka International Academy

At Fukuoka International Academy, we offer 3 types of encouragement scholarship rewards for students who take their studies seriously, and who are not afraid to take on academic challenges:


We reward selective students who have excellent grades and set good examples for others.

<Grant Standards for Learning Encouragement>
a. Selection 【Existing Student】
Selections are based on attendance, proficiency exam achievement and in-class participation: students with top 3 scores will be rewarded per class.
(Except scholarship recipients from Japan Student Services Organization JASSO)
【New Student】
Based on the results of Learning Encouragement selective exam upon enrollment, 10% of new students will be awarded.
b.Receipt condition (1)Student with over 95% of attendance in the past 3 months, and that has
not been suspended from school.
(2)Must be a regular student.
(3)Student who has high total scores on on-campus proficiency exam and in-class participation.
(includes assignments, test/quiz, and teacher’s evaluation.)
(4)Student with no rule violations.
c. Amount (monthly) 1st Place \10,000  2nd Place \5,000  3rd Place \3,000
d.Valid Period for Grant 3 Months
e.Grant Cancellation (1) In the case of a student no longer enrolled in Fukuoka International Academy, we will not grant from the next supply.
(2)If student is penalized from school during a benefit period, we will stop the grant the following month.

We reward selective students whose Japanese language skills have shown improvement based on EJU and JLPT.

Moreover, if a student meets the grant conditions, both (1) and (2), we give priority to (2) as shown below, without a double reward. Also note that the standard supply of the grant may be revised by times.


(1)Exam Score on Examination for Japanese University Admission for International Students (EJU)

(Note): If a student’s 2nd EJU score is below 200 points, he/she will not be eligible for a grant/reward.

We compare the 1st and the 2nd EJU results for students who meet the following conditions, and will reward book coupons in their equivalent amount.

(2)Japanese Language Proficiency Test (JLPT)
Successful Candidate for N1 We will reward all our regular students who have successfully passed N1 with a \10.000 book coupon.


・Candidate A : A Student whose grade is higher than the reference score specified by Fukuoka International Academy regarding EJU given in June or November.

*Reference Score :【Japanese + Specified Subject = 530 Points】
▼ For a student who wishes to study at the undergraduate
program at university, and is willing to take an entrance examination for national or public university that is selected by Fukuoka Internal Academy, we will supply the entire examination fee regardless of the exam results, for the single university chosen by the student.▼Private universities are limited to Keio University and Waseda University. It applies when a student who has scored 600 points (Japanese and Specified Subject) or more on his/her EJU in June, and wishes to take an entrance examination in either of the private universities mentioned. We will supply that examinee with the same amount of examination fee as a single national/public university, regardless of the results.
・Candidate B : Students other than Candidate A
▼In the case when an applicant has successfully passed national/public university or graduate school, we will supply the full examination fee for a single accepted university/graduate school. (Graduate school research students are not affected).

(Note): Grant conditions for (2) and (3) listed above

a. Grant applicant terms and conditions as listed above are applicable only for second year students.
b. Students whose attendance rates are below 90% in later semesters (from October to March), and students who have more than one suspension from school will not be affected.


II.Extramural Public Scholarship System 〔JASSO〕

Students must be recommended by a school in order to receive a scholarship from the Japanese government. To do so, students must meet all recommendation requirements including academic grades, attendance, and a proper learning attitude.

(1)Supply Amount(Monthly):¥48,000(as on Oct,2011)
(2)Valid Period for Grant : 1 year
